Normally, incoming visible solar radiation is absorbed by the Earth surface and reemitted as infrared radiation. However when emitted infrared radiation is absorbed by the atmosphere again, greenhouse effect occurs.
Greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons, nitrous oxide and ozone.
